LASER SCIENCE VBJ585

MODULE A: VBJ585 Duration : 9 hrs 10 am – 7 pm (maximum of 6 students)

LASER SAFETY CERTIFICATE


This certificate is approved by the department of radiation Health , QLD approval No: ED 023 . It forms part of the requirements to be licensed to use laser apparatus for clinical application or for individuals involved in manufacture, repair or demonstration of laser equipment.

An in-depth overview of laser science and the safe principals of practice ,including the historical development of laser technology. Examine the tissue interactions with laser and pulsed light technology and the primary cellular and secondary physiological effects of therapeutic non thermal Low Intensity Laser Therapy( LILT) in comparison to high intensity laser and pulsed light phototherapy that produces thermal interactions for skin rejuvenation , removal of unwanted benigh skin blemishes, red vein and hair removal .

This module is highly recommended if you are considering to expand your clinical services with Laser Therapy or Pulsed Light Phototherapy, or if you are employed within a clinic using either of these modalities.

LASER THERAPY FOR DERMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS

Review anatomy and physiology of the skin,nail and hair growth .An overview of the benefits of therapeutic laser in relation to : anti-oxidant effects , collagen synthesis , regeneration of skin and underlying supportive connective tissue.

Proven treatment protocols and guidelines and recommended nutritional support for effective treatment of a wide variety of chronic skin and nail conditions, including eczema , psoriasis, dermatitis , acne , rosacea, post inflammatory skin pigmentation and skin hypersensitivity .Including effective treatment of hair loss due to stress , alopecia areata and alopecia diffusa.

 

Module C : VBJ586 Duration : 9 hrs 10 am – 7 pm

PULSED LIGHT PHOTO REJUVENATION AND LASER THERAPY FOR SUNDAMAGED SKIN AND AGEING SKIN

Examine the effects of sunlight and free radical damage in relation to ageing of the skin.

Proven treatment protocols and recommended nutritional support to reduce the visible signs of ageing .Photorejuvenation and removal of unwanted blemishes, age spots, skin tags, seborrhoeic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, red surface veins and stretchmarks using pulsed light phototherapy, in conjunction with laser therapy to increase muscle tone and regeneration of skin and body tissues.

 

Modules D&G are completed in a 2 day block- minimumof 6 students

LASER THERAPY TO ASSIST HEALING AND SCAR REPAIR

Overview of the extra cellular matrix and lymphatic system and their role in the healing process . Examine the inflammatory response and scar tissue formation .Proven treatment protocols and guidelines using laser therapy to assist healing and immune response in the treatment of diabetic and neuropathic ulcers including recommended nutritional support. Effective reduction of old and new stretchmarks, thick keloid and hypertrophic scars and to inhibit excessive scar tissue formation following surgery or burns.

 

Module E : VBJ586 Duration : 9hrs 10 am – 7pm

PRE AND POST OPERATIVE LASER THERAPY TO REDUCE PAIN AND ACCELERATE RECOVERY

Examine the benefits of laser therapy prior to and after all surgery including oral and dental .Proven treatment protocols and guidelines using laser therapy to accelerate recovery, reduce associated pain, swelling and bruising.Regulate scar formation and improve the survival rate of skin flaps, grafted tissue and autologous fat transfer. Overview of liposculpture and cosmetic surgery procedures and recommended post operative aftercare using laser therapy to inhibit excessive scar tissue formation and maximise cosmetic results.

LASER THERAPY FOR MUSCULAR AND ARTHRITIC PAIN RELIEF

Anatomy and physiology of the muscular and skeletal system .Examine the nervous system and the role of neurotransmitters for transmission of pain .The role of laser therapy to reduce pain and joint inflammation and recommended nutritional support. Proven protocols and guidelines for effective treatment of chronic and acute pain using laser therapy and to accelerate the repair of soft tissue, bone and cartilage following injury or surgery.

 

Module G : VBJ587 Duration : 9hrs 10 am – 7pm

EFFECTIVE WEIGHTLOSS AND SMOKING CESSATION USING LASER ACUPUNCTURE

An introduction to the principles of acupuncture. Examine the meridians and acu-points as entry points to the bodies electrical system.Overview of the bioelectrical and biochemical responses to stimulation therapies. Proven treatment protocols and guidelines for ear acupuncture to control addiction to nicotine and food including recommended nutritional support.
